The Rift

Eleven years before Kari's Aging Day, the kingdom cracked. Thousands died as the Rift shattered the valley, farms and towns swallowed whole. The king was left powerless as the quakes toppled whole cities. Only magic itself could hope to keep the Rift from reaching the sea and flooding the entire kingdom. But blood magic was illegal. No one practiced it. Only the barbarians to the north. And lust magic was too weak, too unpredictable.

Except for one person. The Sorceress.

Years later Kari and Tam must stand at the Choosing, when one boy and girl, passed their Aging Days, are selected to serve the Sorceress, who will take their young lusts and use them to power the magic that holds the kingdom together.
